Who We Are

Providing basic food and essentials to people in crisis in South Woking

Initiated by New Life Church, in November 2013, South Woking Community Food Bank was started out of a heart to help those in our community who are in crises. We rely completely on donations of non-perishable food and financial gifts to buy perishable items which get added to the parcels, made up by volunteers.

How We Help People

The food parcels are then delivered directly to people or collected by appointment from:

We Can Make A Difference

Our dream is that local people will take this venture into their hearts too so that nobody in our community goes without. You can help make a real difference to somebody who lives just down the road from you by giving food, money or your time.

The need may seem overwhelming for one person, but if we all get involved we can make a difference. Just buying an extra can of baked beans on top of your weekly shop or donating the ‘free’ item on a buy -one -get -one -free offer all helps when we put it together.

You Can Help!

GIVE FOOD – donate a meal (see below):

Could you buy and donate any of the following items as part of your weekly shop?

  • Tinned Beans / Spaghe􀀃 in sauce
  • Tinned Tomatoes / Pasta sauce
  • Tinned Vegetables
  • Tinned Meat / Fish
  • Pasta / Rice / Instant mash
  • Tinned / Packet soup
  • Tinned fruit
  • Tinned Rice pudding / Custard
  • Fruit Juice / Cordial
  • Tea or Coffee
  • Sugar
  • Milk Powder / UHT Milk
  • Cereal
  • Biscuits
  • Chocolates and treats
  • Basic toiletries
  • Basic cleaning products / toilet rolls

When we put parcels together, a meal = tinned meat + tinned veg + pasta/rice + pudding + juice

Comments from people who received parcels

“We were waiting for my benefits to come through after our circumstances changed, my husband was working but that only gave us enough to cover the rent and there wasn’t much left for food, we always made sure that our two children had something to eat even if it was just a can of baked beans, but my husband and I weren’t always able to eat. The Food Bank has helped us to get through the worst time until things are sorted, it has really made a difference to us, because with your help we have all been able to eat.”

“I have been so overwhelmed by your generosity; it has given me a real boost and restored my belief in human nature. I wanted you to know that having food has been wonderful, but also that I now feel stronger emotionally and more able to sort out my current situation.”

“To everyone at South Woking Food Bank, thank you for our food parcel”.
